EqualStream captures the audio from a browser tab you are already listening to and runs it through an 11-band parametric equalizer, six chained effects and a real-time WebGL visualizer. No install, no account, no upload — the signal never leaves your machine.

How it works
Three steps, none of which involve a file. EqualStream is a processor, not a player — you keep using whatever is already making the sound.

Pick the tab
Press Start and the browser opens its own share dialog. Choose the tab that is playing — a Spotify web player, a YouTube video, a live radio stream — and tick “Also share tab audio”.

Shape the sound
Eleven EQ bands, six effects and a master gain, all live. Every change is audible on the next buffer — there is no render step and nothing to apply.

Watch it react
The same analyser that feeds the meters drives 13 WebGL scenes. Swap between them, tune bloom and sensitivity, or turn the canvas off entirely to save the GPU.
An 11-band equalizer and a six-stage chain
The equalizer is 11 peaking filters at fixed centre frequencies, each with its own gain. Below it, six effects run in series — the order is part of the sound, so it is shown as the chain it actually is, down to the two stages that terminate it.
Bass Boost
Low-shelf filter, −6 to +20 dB, hinged anywhere from 60 to 300 Hz.
Reverb
Convolution reverb with 0.1–10 s decay and up to 400 ms of pre-delay.
Delay
Feedback delay for echo and slapback.
Chorus
Modulated doubling to widen a thin source.
Distortion
Waveshaper drive, from gentle saturation to full break-up.
Compressor
Threshold, ratio and knee control to even out a loud mix.
OutputMaster Gain
One last level control between the chain and your speakers, 0–100 % in one-percent steps. Distortion and bass boost both add gain, so this is where you take it back.
TapAnalyser
A 2048-point FFT — 1024 frequency bins, smoothing 0.5 — tapped off the master. It sits at the end, which is why the meters and every visualizer react to the sound after your EQ and effects, not before.

Every scene reads the same 2048-point FFT the meters do, so what you see is the signal after your EQ and effects — not a decorative loop running alongside it.

The audio never leaves the tab
Capture, equalization, effects and visualization all run locally through the Web Audio API and WebGL. There is no backend to send anything to: no account, no telemetry, no recording. Close the tab and the session is gone.

What audio can EqualStream capture?
Any browser tab that is playing sound — a Spotify web player, a YouTube video, a radio stream, a podcast, a video call. When you press Start, the browser's own share picker opens and you choose the tab; EqualStream only ever receives what you hand it there.
Why do I hear an echo after starting?
You are hearing the original tab and the processed output at once. Mute the source tab after you select it in the share picker — EqualStream keeps receiving its audio, so you are left with the processed signal alone.
Is my audio uploaded or recorded anywhere?
No. Capture, equalization, effects and visualization all run in your browser through the Web Audio API and WebGL. There is no account, no server-side processing, and no recording — closing the tab ends the session and leaves nothing behind.
Which browsers does EqualStream work in?
Desktop Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium browsers, which are the ones that let a page capture tab audio through getDisplayMedia. Firefox and Safari do not expose tab audio, and mobile browsers do not implement it at all.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
No. Mobile browsers cannot share tab audio, so EqualStream asks you to open it on a desktop or laptop instead. The page itself reads fine on a phone — only the studio needs a desktop browser.
Does EqualStream change the audio the other tab sends out?
No. It taps a copy of the stream the browser hands it and processes that. A call or a stream in the source tab is unaffected by anything you do here.
